Lori feels privileged to live in the fenland of East Anglia. Where many see desolation, wide open sky and endless flat fields, she sees inspiration and stories that just need uncovering. To stand outside away from the masses and to just listen, is to hear the stories the land is trying to tell. In these once boggy by-ways is history… and fantasy and a million hidden tales just waiting to be heard. It’s in the wind that rustles the acres of crops; it’s in the poplar trees that stand guard so solemnly; it’s in the earth, both rich and dark, or wet and clay like. The echoes of people past, and perhaps those to come, can be heard if you just stop and listen a while.

Norfolk, the west of which lies in the fens, also encompasses salt marshes, the broads, some wonderful medieval towns and it is easy to see why myths and mysticism are rife in local lore. The capital, Norwich, is said to have had a church for every week of the year and a pub for every day. While this may not be true today, both the capital and county are steeped in history and a church building is never far from sight. It is hard for Lori not to be inspired by her surroundings.
